Fascinating … but really? Let’s ask a foundational question instead of speculating about what algorithms will understand or do in the future. Why not ask what are the limitations of any algorithm as it has been proven by modern day mathematical logic? That is to say, just an undergraduate level understanding of Godel’s Incompleteness Theorems or Church’s Thesis will tell the student not only can algorithms not know more about a human subject than the human knows of itself, but an algorithm itself can not even determine the semantics of its own procedures. Any 15 year old can and should know this today to vaccinate them from all the paranoiac pop psycho-sociology.
