I am all for opening up a conversation, but why must we define ‘mental health’ pathetically, i.e., why is it assumed here, and elsewhere, that what must be talked about and understood is “ emotional ‘weakness”? On a second look, why wouldn’t the real ‘taboo’ of mental health be something more difficult to admit: intellectual weakness, stupidity, and laziness? What our culture really really ‘cringes’ is not “emotional weakness”, for it is a lot easier for everyone to admit that a mental disorder is simply a disease or an emotional problem than to admit they are being an idiot. But then why call it MENTAL health?

Just a thought, before the conversation begins …
