No doubt, there have been Wizard of Ozzes throughout history behind not only racism but other — isms, communism, capitalism, and fascism, for example. But at the end of the day, the most difficult and persistent problems are not those where one can lift the curtain and identify that Wizard. For instance, Hitler and his henchmen have been dead for quite some time, but fascism continues not simply because it is embodied by new white faces; just go to China and you will find an inversion full of ‘yellow’ faces with the problem of communism.

Nobody is in control of these systems, not even white men or yellow men, and to think so is not only to avoid these more crucial and systematic problems but to become so paranoiac that one begins to replicate the very racisms they are fighting against (nothing is more edifying to those who have power than to tell them they have power because of their race).

There is a different kind of responsibility required today, less paranoiac, less visible, less oriented towards the puppets and more towards the strings, it just takes more time to analyze.

In any case, good luck,

T
